25 Sept. CARS: Capital Area Ride for Safety.  CARS is to raise awareness of bicycle safety in the Triangle region and to raise funds to support four cyclists seriously injured by an automobile in Johnson country earlier this year.  29 miles, $10 registration.  If you can only attend one organized ride this year, this is the one!   More information and registration.

08 Oct. The River Ride, Danville, VA. to benefit Habitat for Humanity. 65-, 45-, 25-, 10-mile routes.   The ride includes a t-shirt for the first 100 registrants, a post ride dinner and all 25-65 mile riders will be included in a raffle for a weekend at George Hincapie’s Hotel Domestique.  http://danriverride.com

08 Oct. The Tour de Pig, fundraiser for the Mental Health Assoc. in Davidson Co., is an official event of the Barbecue Festival in Lexington, NC. 100-, 50-, 35-, and 20-K routes. Pre-registration includes a Tour de Pig shirt, a collectible patch, and a barbecue lunch.

29 Oct Halloween Ride and Party – Team Cheetah/CBC/Mettle on Pedals are hosting a Ride and Halloween Party to raise money for the 2017 Tour de Cure.  25 and 50 mile options to be held in the Afternoon (1pm to 5pm) followed by a Band Party with the Lids (6-9 pm Tom Droege’s Band).  Ride starts at The Down 2 Earth Farm in Rougemont (North Durham County). 6 Nov.  Save the date for the Triangle Tweed Ride!  Throw on your old school duds (really old school… great depression style) and go on a leisurely cruise to the Rose Garden for a picnic. The format will be similar to previous years festivities. At the Rose Garden we will enjoy snacks, yard games, and revelry. Hopefully the stock market won’t tank.

9-14 Nov.  Festivelo.  Four days of cycling out of Walterboro, South Carolina. Walterboro is known for its rich history and being the artistic center for South Carolina. 20 Nov.  Save the date for Cranksgiving, Oaks and Spokes annual Food Drive Bike Ride. Last year more than 100 participants rode their bikes around Raleigh to collect over 1400 lbs of food to donate to Raleigh Rescue Mission.
